A decolagem foi suave. O Comandante Piuzorio, com uma experiência simulada no MSFS2024, executou a rota com perícia, alcançando o V1, VR e V2 sem problemas. A subida inicial foi impecável, e logo se encontraram a subir para a transição para a etapa de cruzeiro (TOC), executando os procedimentos padrões de subida de um A320 com a precisão de um relógio suíço. A transição da fase de subida para o cruzeiro a 35505 pés foi rápida e eficiente.
O cruzeiro transcorreu sem incidentes. A 35000 pés, a temperatura externa desceu a -49°C, enquanto a temperatura do ar no motor mantinha-se mais amena. A estabilidade e o silêncio no ar eram perturbados apenas pelo zumbido suave dos motores e o trabalho silencioso do sistema de ar condicionado. Aproxima-se a hora da descida para a aproximação de Ponta Delgada. O Comandante Piuzorio iniciou a descida do Top of Descent (TOD) a 35427 pés, mantendo a velocidade de cruzeiro em 263kts. A preparação para a aproximação foi feita com cautela, verificando todos os sistemas. A temperatura externa subiu, chegando a valores mais agradáveis. À medida que o A320 descia, os procedimentos de aproximação foram executados a contento, e os flaps foram sendo ajustados. As luzes de aproximação e as luzes de asa foram ligadas, as luzes de táxi e reconhecimento foram activadas no momento oportuno.
A aproximação, apesar de se ter desenvolvido inicialmente sem problemas, terminou de forma menos suave. A aterragem foi classificada como "dura", com um impacto de 1,26g e uma taxa de descida considerável. Este foi, na minha perspectiva, o ponto fraco do voo. Apesar da aterragem ser considerada "dura" e não ser a ideal, não houve problemas maiores para o avião nem passageiros. O Comandante, possivelmente, não conseguiu ajustar perfeitamente a trajetória de descida final para minimizar o impacto. Embora não haja indicação de falhas técnicas ou condições meteorológicas adversas, uma melhor gestão da velocidade e da taxa de descida na abordagem final teria garantido uma aterragem mais suave. Após a aterragem, o procedimento de taxiagem para o estacionamento foi executado sem problemas. A equipa técnica cumpriu com rigor os procedimentos de desligamento dos sistemas e encerramento do voo. O voo TP1859 chegou a salvo a Ponta Delgada.
